This exhibition examines the connection between the restriction of civil rights and the loss of refugees’ rights. Economic interests, as well the promise of profits and security, are increasingly undermining rights guaranteed by the constitution – rights that refugees aren’t even accorded in the first place. Post-democratic developments have accelerated in recent years. In the highly explosive scenario we have now, it is particularly worth examining the causes and consequences of the legal inequalities brought about by increasing economic inequality. The artistic positions examine aspects of legal, social, and emotional changes in the relationship between politics, economics and power.
