As previously announced, Saydnaya: Inside a Syrian Torture Prison, a Forensic Architecture investigation undertaken in collaboration with Amnesty International, was chosen as this year’s winner of the Peabody-Facebook Futures of Media Award for best Interactive Documentary, which was awarded at a luncheon in New York City on 19 May 2017.
There to accept the award on our behalf was Ana Naomi de Sousa, co-director and co-producer of Saydnaya, who gave a poignant speech focusing on the courage and generosity of the six survivors of Saydnaya prison whose trust and testimony made this project what it was. Also in attendance was Sarah Nankivell from Forensic Architecture and Sherine Tadros from Amnesty International.
