Workshop

Lessons in Counter Forensics: Navigation

17 Nov 2018, 2:00 pm

Tate Britain, London, UK

Join a seminar and workshop which explores image sources and data

This seminar deals with navigating between multiple image sources. Contemporary incidents tend to produce a huge number of videos and data, inducing changes in the acts of viewing and investigating. Rather than cutting, composing and editing source material – as one would do when editing a film – the practice of forensics must conserve all sources in their original condition and duration. Weaving a story necessitates platforms for navigation in which the ‘situated perspectives’ of multiple points of view can be located within time-based 3D models – navigational landscapes that are both virtual and photographic.

The workshop will explore the determination of the location of images or videos without metadata – ‘image synchronisation’ the creation of navigable spaces from image and data, the composition of photographic spaces from ‘photogrammetry’, as well as the analysing space via ‘motion tracking’.
